,what Is the nanotechnology? nano
It is about technology treating the objects of size ranging between 0,1 micron and 10 nanometers (see opposite). The devices nanotechnologic are carried out according to two different approaches. A first approach (known as “Signal-down”) consists in applying the techniques of micro-electronics to the extreme. The experts consider the market potential annual at 340 billion dollars for materials, 300 billion for electronics, 180 billion for pharmaceutical industry,…

The nanometer it is 10-9 meter or one millionth of millimetre! On the photograph opposite the letter M written on a silicon surface with the point of a microscope STM (Scanning Tunneling Microscope) measurement approximately 23 nanometers broad. With this scale, all the Universalis encyclopaedia would be due in a square of 1 millimetre on side!
